Updates from Foster Home:

Pupdate 3: Mr. Peabody continues to work on his puppy behaviors. New goals include waiting politely at doorways and learning all the basic commands. See more videos and pictures of Mr. Peabody at

Pupdate 2: Mr. Peabody had an exciting week. He started dog daycare at the Puppy Den; he loves to play with puppy friends. Mr. P also attended a social event at WI Brewing Co this week; he got to meet a lot of new people and play with other dogs. He’s getting a lot of compliments on his beauty. Mr. P hasn’t had any indoor potty accidents in a week; house training is coming along nicely. Some nights I allow Mr. P to sleep outside the crate in my bedroom. He usually prefers to curl up on a dog bed when given the opportunity but will sometimes sleep in the crate with the door open. Mr. Peabody also has a loving, snuggly side if you don’t mind him joining you on the couch. He turns into a couch potato. Mr. P still loves to chew but he’s not a destructive chewer. All the plush toys have remained intact because he mouthes at them instead of ripping them apart. Mr. P is still working on a lot of skills but he aims to please. Jumping on people and counters still needs work. He knows “sit,” “down,” “off,” “come,” and “outside.” Mr. Peabody barks for 5-10 minutes when he goes in his crate and we leave him alone. I think he has mild separation anxiety. I just ignore it and he stops barking. It also helps a lot if he has a chew available in his crate. Overall, Mr. Peabody is an amazing dog, a great best friend for anyone!

Pupdate 1: Mr. Peabody is a beautiful hound mix puppy with reddish fur and kind eyes. His favorite things are squeaky toys, dog chews, belly rubs, and sniffing around on a slow walk, although he’s perfectly happy running too.  Mr. Peabody is very friendly with humans, including the younger kids. He visited WI Brewing Co. and made a lot of new friends. He would be a great patio pup at restaurants because he loves to hang out and people watch.

Mr. Peabody loves other dog, too. He currently lives with my two resident dogs and does well with them. He tries to play with them but they aren’t interested; Mr. Peabody respects that and gives them their space but he would love to have another energetic dog friend to play with.  Mr. Peabody is just okay with cats. He gets really excited by my cats and wants to chase and play.  My cats don’t like the attention but they have their own space so it all works out.

Mr. Peabody has been doing great with training and is a quick learner. He knows Sit. He’s working on Off, Down, Come, and heeling on leash walks. He will do anything for a treat and he’s a big people pleaser. Mr. Peabody is crate trained. He sleeps in his crate at night and spends time in the crate during the day. He working on potty training. He’s had a few indoor accidents so he is not left unattended indoors. He goes in the crate when we can’t watch him.  Mr. Peabody has typical puppy behaviors that we are working on (mouthiness, jumping on people, chewing inappropriate items). He will definitely need continued training with an adopter. Puppy training classes will be great and Fetch reimburses the cost!

For exercise Mr. Peabody does a morning and evening walk (30 minutes each). He loves sniffing exercises and will excel at nose work with further training.  Nose work is a great way for dogs to burn up physical energy. Mr. Peabody usually gets his kibble scattered about so he has to sniff around for it. He loves that game.
