Updates from Foster Home:
Pupdate 3: As everyone hoped, my fecal test came back negative! Meanwhile, they tweeted a video of me and my foster brother doin' stuff together. Have a look here.
Pupdate 2: Some new news: I bark after all. Still not often, and not loud. As dogs go, I’m pretty darn quiet. Also I now eat eagerly, regardless of what kind of kibble they give me. And my repertoire has expanded a little: I know “off” now -- that’s what they tell me when I put my paws up (lightly) on things, like furniture or a person. And I’m a lot better at “sit” than I was in the beginning. Speaking of vocabulary, if you’d like to see me snap to attention just try asking, "Would you like to go for a walk?” I get two long ones a day here.
Living with another dog is fine; I share stuff with my foster brother and get on well with him. Yeah, we sometimes get ultra-rambunctious, but other times we just lie next to each other and nuzzle. I can sleep in a crate, but a dog bed works just as well. I get my choice here and favor the dog bed. I don’t have much interest in toys, like those balls that people expect you to chase and fetch, except that I’ll gnaw on some chew toys. Remember how soft i am? I should warn you that that means I shed, so don’t be surprised to find hair on clothing or carpets.
Medical stuff: I get a fecal test soon to (hopefully) confirm that I’m free of the whipworms I had before. Also I’m taking an antibiotic twice a day as a precaution for a positive ehrlichia test.
Pupdate 1: Hey, I’m from Missouri! I’ve been in Wisconsin a week and a half. I’m easy going and will nudge you for attention; since I’m soft and plush everyone likes to pet me, but I like it even more than they do. They say I’m potty trained but to be honest I did mark a houseplant once, which I blame on being amped up after romping with my foster bro.
I’ve never seen a person or dog I didn’t want to go greet; in fact the only time I won’t come when you call me is when I’ve darted off to say hi. Haven’t met any cats here so we’ll have to see how that goes. I never bark but I’ll whine softly when I want something, so don’t expect me to be your watchdog. I am a picky eater, which also means I have to be tricked into taking any pills or meds. Things I’m working on: “Wait,” “sit,” “down,” and “off.” It’s a lot to absorb but I’m beginning to catch on to what “wait” and “sit” mean.
